Dorothy L. Cook, age 94, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Three Rivers Medical Center, following a short illness.
A viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
A committal service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Dorothy was born December 24, 1919 in Barre, New York to John & Ethel Wells, one of three children. The family farmed in rural New York State near Rochester. In September 1939 she married Ernest Cook, who preceded her in death in March 2013. She was a housewife and also worked with her husband at their family-owned service station. In 1954 the Cooks moved with their two sons, Dale and Ronald, to southern California. Dorothy worked for many years at Miller’s Outpost in Pomona, California. In June 1997 the Cooks moved to Grants Pass.
She enjoyed her family and loved to prepare big meals at family gatherings. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, also the crossword puzzles in the newspaper.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Cook and wife Yvonne of Grants Pass, Oregon and Ronald Cook of Riverside, California; a sister, Eleanor Brooks; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
