Dorothy "Jean" Wirkkala

Dorothy “Jean” Wirkkala, age 87, of Rogue River, died Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Morrow Heights.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Morrow Heights in Rogue River. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Jean was born March 6, 1923 in La Monte, Missouri to Virgil & Leona Bobbitt. She was a hairstylist in Kent, Washington for 35 years before retirement.

She loved to cook and was an avid rock hound for years. She did beautiful bead work for family and friends and sold many items on the road. Together with her husband, she traveled throughout the southwest United States in their RV.

Survivors include two daughters, Trisha Michner and husband Charles of Yakima, Washington and Ginger Motschman and husband Chuck of Grants Pass, Oregon; five grandchildren, Virgil, Mike, Vanessa, Kimberli and Kevin; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wirkkala and a granddaughter, Sydnee.
