Oregon native, Dorothy I. Bobinski, age 79, widow of college professor Casimir Bobinski, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at her apartment in Grants Pass.
Dorothy was born in Dallas, Oregon on March 24, 1933 to S.B. and Estelle Lewis. She was a graduate of Grants Pass High School and worked as a bookkeeper through most of her life. Her career and marriage carried her across the U.S. to San Francisco, Washington D.C., and back to San Francisco where she met and married Casimir. They moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan, where Cas began his teaching career. Upon his retirement, they returned to the Pacific Northwest. Dorothy returned to Grants Pass after her husband’s passing to help care for her mother, Estelle. In 1987 she changed her career to work at Josephine County Library, which she retired from in 1998.
Dorothy was a member and past president of the Women’s Auxiliary Fleet Reserve Association.
An enthusiastic bridge and game player, she was also a voracious reader, crossword puzzler and a fine gardener.
She was the last remaining child of Beauford and Estelle. She was predeceased by her siblings, Olga Smith, “Hap” Lewis, June Mueller, Bob Lewis and Deanne Long.
She is survived by 13 nieces and nephews and innumerable great and great-great nieces and nephews.
At Dorothy’s request no services will be held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
