Dorothy Ann Lothrop

April 16, 1930 — November 22, 2016

Dorothy Ann Lothrop was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and moved to Los Angeles as a small child. She was raised by her mother Flora and step-father, Raymond Holder, Sr. Her beautiful voice, even as a child, enabled her to sing with a local chapter of the Salvation Army Band.

She married Everett Lothrop and raised four children. She enjoyed working and began singing with the Bell Telephone Choir, working as a legal secretary with the Signal Oil and Gas Company in Los Angeles, and later worked for the Parsons Corporation in Pasadena for a short time.

Dorothy married Ronald Olson, and her love of the outdoors took her to Oregon where she purchased her home in Applegate. She enjoyed many lasting friendships and outdoor adventures that included river excursions, cooking, camping, and raising cattle. She was always the life of the party and spent countless hours quilting for herself and others.

After Ron’s death, Dorothy moved to Yachats, to a home overlooking the ocean, and shared her time with family and visiting friends at the Moose Lodge.

Dorothy spent her final years in Grants Pass, Oregon, where she succumbed to her battle with Alzheimer's at the age of 86. She is survived by her brother, Raymond Holder in Orange County, her daughter Evette Gallo (Lothrop) in California, and her sons Philip, Bill, and David Lothrop all living in Oregon. She had 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
