Doris Deane Hanks Hamilton passed away Friday morning in Grants Pass, Oregon, having recently celebrated her 91st birthday.
Born August 2, 1928, in Los Angeles, California, to Joseph Ede Hanks and Alta Mae Mills Hanks, Doris grew up in Compton, California. On August 9, 1951, she married Leroy Vernon Hamilton and they spent 55 wonderful years together.
Doris was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and very involved in genealogy work.
She is survived by her beloved children and their spouses and partners: Robert Steven Hidalgo (Patricia Ortiz Hidalgo) of Brentwood, California; Wandalea Hamilton Walker (Steven Thatcher) of Kapaa, Hawaii; Roger Russell Hamilton (Clara Ramirez Hamilton) of Grants Pass, Oregon; Dallas Dean Hamilton, Sr. of Selma, Oregon; Michael Vernon Hamilton (Janet Baldwin Hamilton) of Portland, Oregon; and Tracey Jo Hamilton Roberts (Jeff Roberts) of Priest River, Idaho. She will be missed by her 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Doris' primary work in life was to be an exemplary wife and mother, and she excelled at both. Everyone who spent time with her remarked on her sweet and giving spirit and her beautiful smile. She loved her grandchildren with the same fervor that she loved her children, and spent every moment that she could with her family.
A viewing will be from 9:30 am to 10:15 am, September 6, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cave Junction.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., September 6, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cave Junction. Interment will follow at Deer Creek Cemetery in Selma.
