Dora Lee (Dodie) Vandermark , 89, of Selma, Oregon , passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 in her home from a long, successful life. Born March 25, 1922 in Pueblo, Colorado to Virginia Beatrice Lutz and Arthur Lee Davis she was raised during the great depression by her loving grandparents El Dora (Blans) and Franklin Tilden Lutz. She married Eugene (Gene) Leslie Vandermark on June 5, 1943. She and Gene moved to the Illinois Valley in 1972 from Riverside, California. As an adult, Dodie was active in every community where she lived. She was a member with her husband Gene in the Lake Elsinore, California Theatre group called the Valley Players, the Lake Elsinore Women’s Club, held an elected position of the Josephine County School Board and 16 years ago co-founded Illinois Valley The Open Door, a Selma area Food Bank, with her husband Gene and where she worked every day right to the end. She is survived by her daughter Vicki Lee Jones and her husband Stan, Son John Samuel Vandermark and his wife Carole, Eugenie (Genie) Lynn Gilliam and her husband Michael, Son-in-law John Mortan, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Gene in 2002 and daughter Frieda Mortan in 2006. Service arrangements are pending.
