Donna "Kim" Christian-Thompson

Donna “Kim” Christian-Thompson, age 63, of Cave Junction, died Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Private services will be held. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

She was born Donna Ray Christian March 17, 1950 in Oakland, California to John & Lena (Piazza) Christian. She grew up in the California bay area and was a “flower child” turned “heroic nurse.” She loved hands-on nursing and as a registered nurse working in hospitals in Psych, ER, and Oncology while living in California, Texas, Washington, and Oregon. In 2002 she moved from Guerneville, California to Cave Junction. She worked as head nurse at The Bridge, Oak Lane, and The Suites.

A self-taught cellist, Kim played cello for the Del Norte Symphony By The Sea in Gold Beach, Crescent City, and Brookings. While living in Guerneville, California she also played in the Sonoma County and Marine County symphonies.

Her hobbies included gardening; fishing, especially salmon fishing; animals; and cats, especially her favorite cat, “Milo.” She was a certified massage therapist, and practiced Reiki therapy. She was both a Buddhist and a Christian and enjoyed reading about both religions. Kim is well known for her infectious laugh.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Thompson of Cave Junction, Oregon; a stepdaughter, Sarah Thompson of Atlanta, Georgia; a brother, Tim Bullaro of Grants Pass, Oregon; and four grandchildren.
