Donna Gail Thornton, 56, of Grants Pass, died Monday, January 29, 2007 at Medford Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Memorial services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at her brother Ed’s home, 1409 Florence Lane, Grants Pass, OR 97527. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.
She was born on December 21, 1950 in Pasadena, California. She graduated from El Monlino High School in Sebastopol, California and then attended Sacramento House of Beauty College in Sacramento, California and graduated as a licensed beautician. Following graduation she worked for several years in Sacramento. In 1975 she moved from Sacramento to Cave Junction, where she lived until moving to Grants Pass in 1996 due to her illness. While living in Cave Junction she was self-employed as a resident artist with special emphasis on drawing animals. She also owned a station at the Original Cut Company in Cave Junction.
She attended the Rogue River Assembly of God Church. She assisted in the Christmas Basket Program in Cave Junction.
She loved her dogs, art, calligraphy, doing charcoal sketches, poems, reading and cooking. She also loved playing bingo at the Legion Hall in Cave Junction and the Elks in Grants Pass as well as White City.
Survivors include her two sisters, Monica Thornton of Cave Junction; and Debra Thornton o Ashland; her two brothers, Ed Thornton of Grants Pass; and Eldon Thornton of Sacramento, California; and 11 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mom, Fran in 1986 and her dad, Vern Thornton in 1982; her brothers, Mitch Thornton in 1990 and Dave Thornton in 1992.
