Don was born on August 11, 1934 in Los Angeles, CA to Elsie and Kenneth Reedy. His early years were spent in Venice, CA where he enjoyed many happy days at the beach. In 1945 his parent’s decided LA was too crowded so they moved to a farm in Wolf Creek, OR. Don met many of his lifelong friends at the elementary and grammar schools he attended there. Don went to Grants Pass High School and was a proud Caveman from the class of 1952. At the end 1951 he joined the Air Force and became an airplane electrician. After his discharge from the military, he worked at Lockheed while also earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Woodbury College. Don married Rosemary Baber and together they had two beautiful children, Donald Jr. and Lisa.
Don was an insurance broker then went to Los Angeles Unified School District as their Risk Manager. While at LAUSD he earned his master’s degree from Pepperdine University in School Administration. After 24 years at LAUSD he worked at Keeling and Company for ten years until his retirement in 1999.
In 1994 he married Patti Brown. In 2003 they moved to Grants Pass, OR where he enjoyed being a City Counselor and a County Commissioner.
Finally retired, his travel bug kicked in. Being a UCLA Bruin fan since childhood, the motorhome went to CA for many home games and several other places for away games.
He was predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Elsie Reedy, brother Patrick Reedy, sister Kathy Simpson and Rosemary Baber Reedy.
Don is survived by his precious wife, Patti Reedy and loving family, son Donald L. Reedy Jr, daughter Lisa Reedy Madigan (Tim), stepchildren, Kathy Bissonnette (Bob), Tammy Nickerson (David), Jim Roberts (Laura), Jeff Roberts and Linda Lee, sister Terri Reedy. Don had 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren... and counting and half-sister, Nancy Jackson Brown.
Don will be dearly missed.
