Donald Ralph Bird, age 84, of Merlin, Oregon, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 at his home.
A viewing will be from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Merlin building Relief Society Room.
A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Merlin building at 339 Jumpoff Joe Creek Road. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Don was born May 7, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served a two-year LDS mission in Australia and graduated from the University of Utah. From 1957 to 1961 he served in the United States Air Force. He then became a building contractor in Utah and later in California. He was a building inspector for the City of Los Altos, California for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife Karen, seven children, sons: Kris, Mark, Brad, and David; three daughters: Kerrie Steele, Wendy Beeching, and Jenny Bird; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. His first wife, Arlene, preceded him in death.
