Donald Edmond Hammers, age 87, of Grants Pass, died Monday, May 14, 2007.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2007 at Rogue River Assembly of God Church with Pastor Lorin Short officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

He was born May 10, 1920 in Thurman, Iowa to Clyde & Evalena Hammers. He worked on the farm until he enlisted in the United States Army on February 10, 1941. While serving in World War II he was a prisoner of war for 28 months in Germany and was honorably discharged August 3, 1945. On June 24, 1946 in Glenwood, Iowa he married Letta Scott. In 1963 he moved from Iowa to Grants Pass.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and mining.
In addition to his wife, Letta Hammers of Grants Pass; survivors include six children, Donnie Hammers of Coos Bay, Joyce Hammers of Grants Pass, Corinne Brummett of Grants Pass, Dale Hammers of Grants Pass, Janice Hewett of Mesquite, Texas, and Cindy Moir of Grants Pass; two brothers, Homer Hammers of Stanton, Iowa and Mike Hammers of Alabama; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers Charlie, Sam, Jim, and Joe Hammers.
