Don DuBose, age 83, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016.
Don was born July 31, 1932 in Savannah, Georgia to Jesse & Ora (McCook) DuBose. He grew up and attended schools in Savannah. During the Korean War from 1949 to 1953 he served in the United States Navy. Two weeks short of 65 years, he was married to his wife, Virginia. Don worked as a Tool and Die Maker and taught the machinist apprenticeship program at Contra Costa College in San Pablo, California. He retired from Sandia National Lab in Livermore, California. In 2002 he moved from Albion, California to Grants Pass.
Don especially enjoyed fishing, oil painting, ceramics, carpentry, and sculpting.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia DuBose of Grants Pass, Oregon; four children, Michael (Linda) DuBose of Williams, Oregon, Kinnon (Paul) Ernst of Livermore, California, Brian (Arina) DuBose of Woking, United Kingdom, and Becky (Gary) Simpson of Livermore, California; a sister, Christine Hinely of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; a brother, Jonathan DuBose of Rincon, Georgia; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joel Ernst.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Burman officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
