Dominick Joseph Lucia, 60, loving son of Barbara Rocque Lucia and Joseph Leonard Lucia, passed away, unexpectedly, on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
Dominick (also known as Dom and DJ) is survived by his Mother, Barbara Lucia; daughter, Mersades Otis; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Lori Lucia; sister, Sue Lucia-Terry; and nieces and nephews, Emylia Terry and Dalston Terry, and Annie Lucia and Joseph Lucia.
DJ was born in New Rochelle, New York, on December 24, 1960, and moved to California in 1973. He enjoyed playing football, baseball and dirt bike racing. He graduated from Granada Hills High School and California State University, Northridge, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing.
Dom moved to Oregon, where he committed 24 years of his life to Narcotics Anonymous and went on to become a Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselor Advanced (CADCII).
He was passionate about providing services to veterans, people without housing, and those struggling with addiction. He collaborated on an Emmy Award-winning film on homeless veterans. Dom was humble in his service, yet admired and loved for the impact he had on the lives of others, as reflected on his Facebook page.
DJ was an avid New York Yankees fan, thrilled with meeting Mariano Rivera, and a lifelong Raiders fan. He looked forward to attending Raiders games in Las Vegas when he visited his family.
Dominick is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Leonard Lucia, who passed away on July 9, 2019.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Indian Mary Park in Oregon from 12-3 p.m. A funeral mass in Las Vegas will be scheduled in June 2021.
