Dixie L. George

Dixie George, age 78, of Grants Pass, died Friday, August 14, 2015 at her home.

She was born February 27, 1937 in Victorville, California to Jackie & Alvin Dawson. She was raised by her stepfather Bill Thaxton and her mother Jackie. On September 14, 1957 she married Alfred George and together they had four children, Rhonda, Sandy, Susie, and Bill. For 20 years she worked at Del Monte Pickles. She moved from San Jose, California to Grants Pass 23 years ago.

Dixie was a member of the Teamsters Union. She volunteered her time helping people with special needs.

Her hobbies included swimming, cooking, baking, trips to Seven Feathers, crocheting, football, race care driving and canning.

Survivors include four children, Rhonda Taylor, Sandra Haucke, Susie Johnson and Bill George; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a sister, Jackie Ann Hayden.

A celebration of life was held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Josephine County Special Olympics.
