Delores Yevonne “Dodie” Caldwell, age 81, of Sunny Valley, died August 10, 2016 as a result of an automobile accident in Sunny Valley.
Delores was born March 14, 1935 in Coquille, Oregon. As a young girl she moved to Grants Pass and was a 1954 graduate of Grants Pass High School. Her first job was at the local movie theater and she spent as much time as possible at the roller rink – where she was crowned “Roller Queen.” It was at the roller rink where she met a young sailor on leave, Vernon J. Caldwell and a short time later she married “her sailor.” Together they lived in Grants Pass and were blessed with five children, Mike, Terry, Anita, Sandy and Suzzette. As a young family they moved from town to the country. After the children were grown and Delores had retired from US Bank, Vern found his dream property and they moved to the Mountain Top in Sunny Valley. Together they resided on the Mountain Top until her death, celebrating 61 years of marriage.
Delores enjoyed painting, canning, gardening and especially spending time with her six longtime friends – aka (the Six Pac) Group. More often than not, you would find her boasting about her family.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon J. Caldwell; her children, Mike Caldwell, Terry Timehe, Anita Halpern, Sandy Carver, and Suzzette Caldwell; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert & Bertha Butler; two brothers, Wallace Butler and Kenneth Butler; and a grandson, Brandon Caldwell-Greenwalt.
