Dean Q. Cullop, age 84, of Grants Pass, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at Spring Village.

Dean was born January 21, 1929 in Damascus, Virginia to Roy F. & Bertha E. (Kestner) Cullop. From November 1950 to July 1952 he served in the United States Army in the 27th Infantry Regiment during the Korean War. Dean was decorated with the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Combat Infantry Badge. In 1950 he married Darlene Roe and in December 1954 they had a daughter, Brenda. He worked for Bank of America for 35 years where he met Louise J. Newell. On June 15, 1968 in Las Vegas, Nevada they were married. For many years they resided in Redlands, California and Cherry Valley, California before moving to Reedsport, Oregon and Florence, Oregon. In 2012 they moved from Florence to Grants Pass.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks Lodge and Florence Church of Christ.
Dean volunteered at SMART reading program for children in Florence, Oregon.
His hobbies included word search puzzles and eating snicker bars, black licorice and drinking diet Coke.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda G. Cullop of San Marcos, California; a step-daughter, Annette M. Clark of Grants Pass, Oregon and three grandchildren Joshua E. Clark, Sean T. Clark and Rose E. Clark.
Preceding him in death was his wife Louise Cullop, a brother, Burton Cullop and his parents Roy & Bertha Cullop.
