Dean A. Brunstad

Dean A. Brunstad, age 90, of Grants Pass, Oregon died Friday, July, 5, 2013 at Autumn House. Our Heavenly Father smiled upon him and, taking him by the hand, gently led him to that “house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Masonic Lodge in Grants Pass.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2013 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children Hospital in Portland, Oregon.

Dean was born June 14, 1923 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin to Joyce Bartlett (Kelly)Brunstad and Gustave Adolph Brunstad. He grew up and was raised on the Brunstad dairy farm and graduated in 1941 from Chippewa Falls Senior High School. From 1943 to 1946 he served in the United States Navy as a Radioman on a PBY aircraft during World War II. After his honorable discharge, Dean took a farm short course at the University of Wisconsin in Madison on the G.I. Bill. On December 27, 1953 he married Betty A. Christenson at Freeborn Congregational Church in Freeborn, Minnesota. They later moved to Kasson, Minnesota and in 1964 they moved to Chino, California. In 1987 they moved from Chino, California to Grants Pass.

Dean was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; Kasson, Minnesota; Rogue River, Oregon; and Grants Pass, Oregon. Worshipful Brother Brunstad, affiliated with the Grants Pass Lodge November 3, 1992, was a member of the Grants Pass Lodge #84 for 21 years, he was also a Mason for 65 years. Dean was also a member of Hillah Shrine in Oregon.

He volunteered for the Shrine Childrens Hospital of Portland where he helped at the local clinic in Grants Pass helping many children.

Dean loved to fish and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Brunstad of Grants Pass; two daughters, Ruth A. (Brunstad) Pusztai and her husband Bill of Chino Hills, California and Dawn D. (Brunstad) Burton; a brother, Loyd Brunstad and wife Fern of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Yvonne Brunstad of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin;

Preceding him in death were two brothers Glen Brunstad and his wife Ethel and Robert Brunstad; and son-in-law Jeff Burton.
