Dawn Jeannette Phillips, age 81, of Grants Pass, died May 29, 2019 at her home.
Dawn was born September 28, 1937 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Hugo & Marlys Page. In 1940 the family moved from Sioux Falls to San Diego and in 1943 to Grants Pass. She attended grades 1-4 at Washington School; grades 5-8 at Wilderville School and graduated Grants Pass High School class of 1956. In 1955 she married Robert Phillips at First Baptist Church with Pastor Lee Roy Frasier officiating. Over the years she was employed at Byrd’s Market, Rogue River Hardware, eye doctor - Dr. Stephens, dentist – Dr. Penny, eye doctor – Dr Leavitt, and Roe Motors. For 53 years, she was also self-employed as a Mary Kay beauty consultant and later a director overseeing 12 women and winning two cars.
Dawn was an active member of First Baptist Church (now River Valley Church) for 68 years; as well as Gamma Beta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha; Alpha Alpha Masters Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi; Pink Ladies Auxiliary; and was an Easter Seal Chairman.
Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, reading, and collecting cookbooks.
Survivors include her husband Robert Phillips of Grants Pass; two children Tabb Lee Phillips of Salem and Pamala Dawn Vinyard of Grants Pass; sisters Connie Donica and Patrice Slocum; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters Carlotta Williams and Karen Guard.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2019 at River Valley Church with Pastor Chuck Kostrna officiating. Private interment was held at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
