David Edward Morris, also known as D, David Bo Bavid, Uncle Davey Wavey; friends just called him Dave, and for fun, Dirty Dave.
In the short 21 years we had with David, he was able to make a great impact on so many. He lived life with such fierceness. He loved adventures. He climbed the Andes Mountains to see Machu Picchu. He traveled the Amalfi Coast of Italy on a Vespa. He trekked the long and arduous JMT for a month and scaled Mt. Whitney. He climbed Mt. McLoughlin—and hiked two hours of that in the dark with his mother. David loved to look at the stars and take pictures of the stars whenever he could. Coming down from McLoughlin, he made a point to turn off our lights to stare up at the sky. He had a special app to take pictures of the night sky, which was another passion of his: taking pictures. Not selfies! But pictures of the world he lived in. He saw beauty all around him, and he loved to stop and record it.
He loved his friends so much. He loved the theme parties they had and went all in on whatever he did. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed family gatherings. He was always up for a good game of corn hole or dress-up bowling.
In sports, he excelled. In academics, he gave it his all. He called himself an “academic athlete.” He loved nature and science and discovering how everything works. He found the connection between us and Earth, and beyond, into the universe and the heavens.
He successfully completed his study on American Foot Reflexology and was currently working at River Stone Massage and Wellness, where he was blessing many with his healing touch. He was diving deeper into the study of healing arts at RCC, where he was enrolled in the Massage Therapy Program. He talked excitedly about all he was learning and where his studies could take him.
He enjoyed music most of all. He played the piano and guitar all the time. He enjoyed playing Elton on the piano and 70s America on his guitar, along with many others: Eagles, Pink Floyd — he had so many different genres on his playlist. He just loved music, and it oozed out of him when he played. He was known to whistle away when just walking about the house.
When he wasn’t playing music, marching around in nature, or rooting for his favorite sports teams (Saints and Lakers), he would put as much effort into his gaming. He elevated to the top in these endeavors as well. We could hear him coaching or loudly encouraging others on how to play the game. Focusing on how to be the best and bring others along was his intention. ❤️ He created for hours on these platforms. He was injured along the way with a severe TBI. He then received more TBIs after that. He had received treatment and was recovering. We thought he was recovered.
He spent his time making sure we all were happy and having fun whenever he was around. He was quick to give you a smile, and his witty humor would always make you laugh. He made sure everyone was okay. Until his last days, he was caring for us all and letting us know how much he cared for us.
David’s legacy endures and his love and spirit remain with his parents, Brad and Sheri Morris; his sister, Alexzandra (Zan) Schimming; his niece, Willow Perez; his grandparents, Ed and Karen Farris, and Roxana Morris; his aunts and uncles, Todd and Hannah Farris, Julie Farris, Steve and Cheri O’Connor, Boyd and Sheila Morris, and Karen Morris; his cousins, Levi Torgerson, Jamie Stacey, Justin Farris, Jessica Brunson, Jaz Stewart, Maddie O’Connor, and Caitlin O’Connor; and many extended family members and friends, friends he considered family including his teachers and coaches.
He loved us all fiercely and protected us till his end.
In his honor, we would like all donations to go towards education for post-concussion care, post-traumatic stress disorder, and TBIs. It’s an invisible injury and one that hurts so deeply. We all hope his death will not be in vain. Please let your loved ones know how you feel, you’re never alone.
Rest easy our beautiful boy. We love you David Morris for all of eternity ❤️
