David M. Handley, 81, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 15, 2008 at Evergreen Memorial Park in Merced, California. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

He was born on August 23, 1926 in Hinton, Oklahoma to Samuel & Mary Handley. In 1930 he moved with his family to Merced, California and in 1944 graduated from Merced Union High School. On September 3, 1948 in Merced he married the former Sibyl Ruth Clement. He was a proud veteran of World War II and the Korean War. In 1963 he moved to Chico, California where he lived until moving to Grants Pass in 1991. He was a man of many talents, who lived life his own way at all times. He worked as a fireman, a mobile home salesperson, a builder, for 30 years a professional meat cutter/business owner, and finally retired from California State University, Chico.
He was Mason and belonged to the Yosemite Masonic Lodge #99 F & AM in Merced for 58 years. He was also a life member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association in Grants Pass.
His hobbies included motorcycle riding, hunting, fishing and flying experimental aircraft. He was also a debate master and enjoyed reading and politics
In addition to his wife Sibyl Handley of Grants Pass; survivors include two daughters, Kyna Hendra of Milpitas, California; and Desta Dunlap of Chico, California; two sons, David Handley Jr. of Milpitas, California and Samuel Handley of Corning, California; a sister, Mari Kirby of Sequim, Washington; and five grandchildren.
