David Joseph Hearn, 62, of Cave Junction, died Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.
A celebration of life will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the Selma Center, Orange Room. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Remembrances may be made to the National Audubon Society, Department W, 700 Broadway, New York, New York 10003.
He was born June 9, 1945 in Portland, Oregon to John & Mary Hearn. Following his graduation from Central Catholic High School, he received a scholarship to Portland Art Museum and completed a one-year program. He worked as a cab driver for 15 years in Portland. He also worked as a journeyman carpenter for several years and continued using his skills throughout his work history in Portland and the Illinois Valley after moving there in 1996.
He enjoyed bird watching, astronomy, nature, gold mining and hiking the local area. He also enjoyed reading the Bible, American History and other non-fiction works and spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors included two sisters, Rita Spears and Kathleen Hearn both of Portland; a brother, James Hearn of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and his friend and caregiver, Vikki Miller of Selma.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Hearn in 1990.
