David “Dave” Duge, age 68, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at his home.
Family and friends will scatter his ashes May 29, 2011 at the mouth of the Klamath River, Klamath, California on the outgoing tide. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 31 W. 6th Street, Medford Oregon 97501.
Dave was born February 9, 1943 in San Francisco, California to Merrell & Agnes 'Joan' Duge. Forty-four years ago he married Bonita Duge. Together they raised two children, Monti and Lisa and two grandchildren, Marissa and Zachary. From 1960 to 1963 he served in the United States Army where he was a part of building the Berlin Wall. After 27 years he retired from the City of Concord as a Police Sergeant. He loved the street and most of his service was done there. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Police Science. He moved from Benicia, California 17 years ago to Grants Pass.
He was a member of the Police Officers Association and the Retired Police Officers Association.
His hobbies included golfing and he especially loved fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Bonita Duge of Grants Pass; a son, Monti Duge and wife Tina Gilbert of Seattle, Washington; a daughter, Lisa Duge of Antioch, California; three grandchildren, Marissa Rock who is 21 years old, Zachary Whitted who is 19 years old, and Louisa Honor Duge who is 16 months old; stepmother, Mae Duge and brother, Ted DeMello.
Preceding him in death was his stepfather, Alfred; his mother, 'Joan' DeMello and father Merrell Duge.
