Cynthia Del Johnson

Cynthia Del Johnson, age 62, of Rogue River, died Monday, May 5, 2014 at her home.

A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2014 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. A potluck gathering will follow at Palmerton Park in Rogue River.

Cynthia was born August 25, 1951 in Oakland, California to William & Patricia Goodwin. When she was young and living in Walnut Creek, California she saved the life of her 3 year old sister and the life of a 5 year old boy both from drowning on two separate occasions. She worked as a manager/waitress at the Flying J truck stop in Spokane, Washington for many years. In 2001 when she retired she moved from Spokane to the Rogue Valley.

Cynthia volunteered her time making flower arrangements and helping at banquets, weddings, and other special events. She also assisted her sister, Darci with 4-H activities.

Cynthia loved animals including riding horses especially up Foots Creek and Birdseye Creek on her horse Coco; raising cattle; cats and dogs especially her dog, “Trouble.” She also enjoyed swimming, gardening, scenic travels including Alaska, Northern California and Washington; archery; and having coffee at BeeGee’s (formerly Aunt Betty’s Coffee Shop) and Herb’s LaCasita. She also helped with family projects and at her nieces Crystal’s Coffee Shop.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Kirby and wife Becky of North Pole, Alaska and Steven Kirby of Hayward, California; four sisters, Darci Goodwin of Grants Pass, Oregon, Sandy Lockhart of Ione, California, Patsy Sax of Roseville, California and Stacy Johnson of Corpus Christi, Texas; a brother, Morgan Nichols of Sacramento, California; two grandchildren, Justin and Carrie Ann; three nieces, Michelle Greenwood, Crystal Greenwood both of Grants Pass, Oregon and Makayla Carter of Gold Hill, Oregon; and a nephew, Andy Greenwood of San Marcos, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Johnson and her parents.
