Corina Kay Cowancoots, age 62, of Cave Junction, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at her home.
A potluck and gathering of family and friends will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Corina’s home. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Corina was born January 22, 1951 in Portland, Oregon to Frank & Patricia Cowan. Growing up she would sneak over to her grandma’s house where she met Norma Jean before she became Marilyn Monroe. She graduated from high school in Portland. Corina served in the United States Navy as a corpsman at the San Diego Naval Hospital. After serving for three years she worked as a go-go dancer in Portland for several years. She later worked as a fry cook for Burgerville USA and won awards for being the fastest and most accurate fry cook in the business. Three years ago she moved from Crescent City to Cave Junction. On August 11, 2013 Stephen Jay & Corina Kay celebrated their tie dye wedding at their Cave Junction home. Everyone who came was given a tie dye shirt to take home with them.
She was an avid gardener and over the years she kept exotic birds. As a child she had a garage full of fish in aquariums.
Survivors include her husband, Stephen Jay Cowancoots of Cave Junction; her mother Patricia of Florence, Oregon; three sisters, Paula of John Day, Oregon, Anne of Port Angeles,Washington and Cathy of Creswell, Oregon.
Preceding her in death were two brothers and one sister.
