Clifton was a carpenter and a contractor for many years before becoming a Construction Inspector for the City of Los Angeles. After retiring in 1979, Cliff and Fern traveled throughout the US in their 5th wheel trailer for 18 months, before settling into their retirement location in Grants Pass, Oregon. They called their wooded property FernCliff Acres. Both from large families, they spent a lot of time with family and friends, playing cards, working their property, visiting weekend yard sales and camping/traveling.
