Clifford L. Smith

Clifford Lee Smith, age 82, of Grants Pass, died November 20, 2017 at his home.

Clifford was born February 21, 1935 in Helena, Montana to Gerald H. & Fern S. Smith. In 1953 he graduated from Spirit Lake High School in Spirit Lake, Idaho. On October 3, 1956 in Spirit Lake he married Marian May Blood. He served in the United States Navy as gunner’s mate aboard the USS Brush and was also stationed on Midway Island. After 30 years working for the United States Forest Service he retired in 1993. In 1987 he moved from Sweet Home, Oregon to Grants Pass.

Clifford enjoyed hunting, leather work, playing the banjo, and fishing. He loved spending time in the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Marian May Smith of Grants Pass; a son, Neal Lee Smith of Grants Pass; two daughters, Shelley Yvonne Schorzman of Grants Pass and Sondra DeAnn Browne of Springfield; a sister, Helen Smith of Ellensburg, Washington; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, June Hufmeister.

A funeral service will be at 12 Noon, Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
