Former Grants Pass resident, Cleo Calvin Stringer, age 93, of Medford, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at his home.
A viewing will be from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 10, 2014 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 10, 2014 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass, Oregon. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Cal was born April 6, 1921 in Grants Pass to Scott & Lena Stringer. He joined the United States Army and served in the South Pacific, Philippines and Mindanao. On July 27, 1940 he married Doris Terry in Reno, Nevada. In the mid 60’s they moved from Grants Pass to Medford.
Cal owned and operated Bun & Run Restaurant in Central Point and Cougar Lane Store in Agnes, Oregon. He also worked at M.C. Liningers as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Eagles and R. Ranch.
His hobbies included traveling, dancing at the Eagles, RVing and driving through the country fishing and hunting. Cal was proud of his military service and his family.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; children, Marilyn and husband, Ted, Terry and wife, Jenny, Ted and wife, Deb; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne and two sisters.
