Clay Leonard

Clay Leonard, age 87, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, October 26, 2013 at his home.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2013 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor J.C. Holden officiating. Mausoleum entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Clay was born December 23, 1925 in Pencil Bluff, Arkansas to Everett & Eva Leonard. Clay married Wanda Shepherd on March 10, 1944 in Pencil Bluff, Arkansas. In 1950 they moved from Oden, Arkansas to Glendale, Oregon where Clay worked at Robert Dollar sawmill until he began operating the Union 76 Station at the Glendale Junction in 1957. In 1961 they moved to Grants Pass where Clay began operating the new Union 76 Station at 6th and Savage. It was around 1967 when he also began his towing business known as Clay’s Towing. Clay continued operating the 76 Station and his towing business for over 40 years until he was no longer able to do so.

Clay enjoyed yard work and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Leonard; four children, Lonnie Leonard and wife Linda, Bill Leonard and wife Melanie, Gary Leonard, and Tammy Hotch and husband Kevin all of Grants Pass, Oregon; a sister, Donna Crawford and husband Jerry of Eureka, California; seven grandchildren, Carrie, Matt, Missy, Mike, Chris, Norman, and Nina; and eight great-grandchildren, Walker, Georgia, Madeline, Gracie, Kody, Nani, Bella and Gavin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mae Brown and his son, Jay Leonard.
