Christopher R. Tomer, age 67, of Grants Pass, entered into Heaven on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 after battling lung cancer.
A celebration of life will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Calvary Crossroads Church in Grants Pass with Pastor Victor Borchard officiating. A reception will follow. After the service and reception there will be a private scattering of ashes by the family. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Chris was born February 8, 1946 to Helen & Lorenzo James Tomer in Los Angeles, California. On September 7, 1991 in Yucaipa, California he married Marianne Barron . He worked in the roofing industry and in the water maintenance field until he retired in 2011. In April of 2012 Chris & Marianne moved to Grants Pass where he made many friends.
Chris attended Calvary Crossroads Church where he also made many wonderful friends.
During Chris’s life he enjoyed touring with his wife on their Goldwing motorcycle, camping, archery, playing pool, kayaking, cycling with Spin Cycle here in Grants Pass, and his main reason for moving to Oregon, fishing. After moving to Oregon he became a member of Southern Oregon Fly Fishers here in Grants Pass where he was learning to tie his own flies.
In addition to his wife of 22 years, Marianne Tomer of Grants Pass, survivors include a son, Brian Tomer and wife Sylvie of Corona, California; a daughter, Theresa Sheets and husband Bob of Riverside, California; four sisters, Becki Nelson and husband Lee and Debbie Morningstar all of Paradise, California, Patty Hicks of Corona, California and Margaret Rummens of Santa Cruz, California; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Helen & Lorenzo James Tomer.
