Charlotte "Charlie" Rose Oxford

Charlotte “Charlie” Rose Oxford, 82, of Grants Pass died Monday, May 16th, 2011 at Three Rivers Community Hospital. She was surrounded by family until the end and was able to hear goodbyes from distant loved ones over the telephone.

Charlotte was born September 20th, 1928 to her parents, Rose Isabelle Ashlock Seever and Clarence Harold Seever in St. Joseph, MO. She grew up in St. Joe, where she met her sweetheart, Donald Ross Oxford. She attended Benton High School. Donald and Charlotte Oxford were married June 21, 1948. In 1968, the couple moved to California. They had three children, Mike Oxford (Ventura, CA), Sherry Readenour (St. Joseph, MO) and Kelly Morse (Grants Pass, OR). The couple resided in California until 1986, when they retired and went “RV’ing”. Charlotte worked all of her life. In their retirement, they were employed at a few casinos in Laughlin, Nevada and enjoyed donating part of their profits back to the casinos. Charlotte enjoyed her large family and spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was important to her. She loved Waikiki. She enjoyed watching her son and grandson re-enact the Civil War. She was proud of their recent accomplishment in the History Channel Documentary, “Custer’s Last Man”. She made sure everyone in the family set their DVR’s to record it. She loved “Wally World”, “shoppin’”, “Motel’n”, McDonalds, Marshmallow Peeps, Cow-Tales, coffee, and she couldn’t pass up a trip “up the road” to Seven Feather’s Casino.

Donald died before her at their home in St. Joe in July 2003, shortly after celebrating 55 years of marriage. Survivors include her three children; Mike Oxford and his wife Kitty Oxford, Sherry Readenour and her partner, Ken Gerber, Kelly Morse and her fianc, Gene Couch. Charlotte had ten Grandchildren; Timothy Traut, Kim Traut Ruiz, who preceded in her death, Michael Shane Oxford, Shawn Thomas Oxford, Robin Renee Readenour High, Jennifer Sue Morse Yost, Ryan Patrick Readenour, Ashley Rose Morse. Matthew David Morse and David Earl Morse Jr.(DJ). She had 14 Great-grandchildren; Alyssa Blair Traut, Cody Allen Traut, Melissa Ann Traut, Stephanie Rynee Sandstedt, Jacob Ross Howard, Elini Oxford, Maria Oxford, William Michael Oxford, Katie Marie Oxford, Rylee Sue Yost, Avery Grace Yost, Ivan Carter Isely, Andrew David High and Daniel Ross High. Charlotte also had two Great-Great Grandchildren; Isabel Ruiz and Elizabeth Salazar.

Donald and Charlotte Oxford’s ashes will be spread together in Pacific City, Oregon. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
