Charles Leslie “Chuck” Evans Sr., 75, of Grants Pass died Monday, May 15, 2006, at his home.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Evans was born March 3, 1931, in Aurora, Ill., to Horace Leslie and Ann Margaret (Hebert) Evans. From 1948 to 1952, he served in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Helena. He lived in Biloxi, Miss., before moving to California. For 29 years, he worked at Giles Lumber in Inglewood, Calif.
On Sept. 22, 1984, in Westchester, Calif., he married Cheryl Monson, who survives. They moved to Grants Pass in August 1993 from Torrance, Calif.
He enjoyed his dogs, watching sports, especially college football, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Teresa Evans of Grants Pass and Grace Ann of North Carolina; three sons, Brian Evans of Grants Pass and Roy and Mark Evans, both of Southern California; two stepdaughters, Julie Hall and Melissa Krause, both of Grants Pass; two brothers, Ellis and H. Michael Evans; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Two wives, Georgia Irene Evans and Dorothy Mae Evans, and three sons, Bobby, George and Charles “Leslie” Evans Jr., died before him.
