Charles E. "Chuck" Schmitz Jr

Charles E. “Chuck” Schmitz Jr, age 62, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, August 16, 2009 at his home.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 21, 2009 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Private interment with military honors will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Chuck was born October 30, 1946 in Trenton, Missouri to Charles Edward & Jennie Mae Schmitz. After high school he joined the United States Army in 1963. From 1970 to 1980 he worked in the banking industry. In 1979 he moved from Sacramento to Grants Pass and on August 18, 1979 he married Sharon Johns Ross. Together with his wife he owned and operated Bob MacMurray Insurance Agency.

The greatest joy in life was his grandchildren. He enjoyed making breakfast for the entire family; his grandchildren liked his blueberry pancakes the best. He also pampered every pet he had along the way.

He was a member of Jaycee’s and Rotary International in California.

His hobbies included fishing, golf, OSU sports, reading, motorcycles, and riding bicycles with his wife.

In addition to his wife, Sharon Schmitz of Grants Pass; he is survived by a daughter, Heather Ross of Lexington, Kentucky; four sons, Cameron Ross of Salem, Greg Ross of Oregon City, Eric Schmitz of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Chris Schmitz of Modesto, California; a sister, Janet M. Mann of Edwards, Missouri; a brother, Michael L. Schmitz of Paradise, California; and eight grandchildren, Wesley Lawrence, Hope Lawrence, Hannah Lawrence, Grant Ross, Jackson Ross, Alec Schmitz, Colton Schmitz, and Dillon Schmitz.
