Charles Dale Skevington

Charles Dale “Dick” Skevington, age 84, of Rogue River, died Friday, September 19, 2008 at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 26, 2008 at Palmerton Park in Rogue River with Pastor Dan O’Connell officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Dick was born July 10, 1924 in Rogue River and was a graduate of Rogue River High School. On April 17, 1951 in Quartzsite, Arizona he married Kathryn Jean Thompson. He spent 28 years of his career at the National Park Service, working at Crater Lake, Death Valley and Mt. Rainier National Parks. While working in Death Valley, he volunteered as a Boy Scout Master. He has lived in Rogue River for 35 years and was currently the Mayor of Rogue River.

Dick was a member of Rogue Valley Community Church for many years. He also volunteered at the Woodville Museum.

His hobbies included scuba diving for gold in Evans Creek and the Rogue River.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Hutchens of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Julie Clark of Elbe, Washington; a son, Richard Skevington of Tacoma, Washington; a sister, Dolores Nelson of Roseburg; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Jean Skevington in 1998.
