Charles (Charlie) Brown passed away peacefully in his home on 2/19/2022.
Charlie was born in Hillsdale Oklahoma. At 18 years of age, he joined the navy and enjoyed a 30 year career as a naval aviator and engineer. He flew skyraiders off the USS Midway and USS Valley Forge during the Korean war and was active in the Vietnam war as well serving several tours on the USS Intrepid.
Charlie moved his family to Grants Pass in 1975 and was very active in the community. He served on the board of the Rogue Valley Symphony, was very involved with Friends of the Library and was a long-time member of the Crater Lake Ski patrol.
He enjoyed cross country skiing, rafting any river he could find including many trips down the lower rogue, birding and was an avid rockhound. With his wife Marlene he traveled the world and enjoyed a very active retirement.
He is survived by son Randy who lives in Selma, daughter Candace who resides in Portland and son Kevin who also lives in Portland. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A committal service with military honors will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2022 at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
