Charles "Charlie" Beck

Charles M. “Charlie” Beck, age 88, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Fair View Transitional Health Center.

No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Charlie was born March 25, 1923 in Birmingham, Alabama to Chyrus & Ethel (Maxey) Beck. In 1941 he joined the United States Navy and served in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam Wars. For 35 years he served in the military and was honored with many service medals. For the last ten years of his career he was a Navy recruiter. In 1946 he married his wife Jeannette and they had one daughter.

Charlie loved his family; traveling, playing poker with his Williams, Oregon “poker buddies,” traveling; and gaming at Seven Feathers.

He is survived by a daughter, Bobbie Schmidt-Audell and her husband Bob of Grants Pass, Oregon; his grandson, Mike Schmidt and wife Dawn of Grants Pass; a granddaughter Lisa and four great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette in May 2011; two sisters; and two brothers.
