Charlene Janet Kelly, age 79, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Applegate House.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Apostolic Faith Church. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements
Memorial donations may be made to the Apostolic Faith Church, Goodwill, St. Vincent De Paul, or the Humane Society.
Charlene was born on January 13, 1935 in Roseburg, Oregon to Alfred & Juanita Lindquist. She grew up in Williams, Oregon and attended Williams Elementary School and graduated from Grants Pass High School, Class of 1952. In 1956 she graduated from Southern Oregon College with a teaching degree. On November 22, 1956 she married Charles Kelly. Charlene worked in the Rogue River and Grants Pass school districts as a teacher of Elementary Education and as a Special Education teacher for North Middle School. She briefly lived in Montana. Around 1968 she moved from Rogue River to Grants Pass.
Charlene was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
She volunteered in nursing homes, visiting the elderly.
Her hobbies included working in her flower garden, shopping at thrift stores, playing bunco, collecting dishes, and she loved her cats and dogs. She thoroughly enjoyed reading anything she could get her hands on.
Survivors include two daughters, Paula Jordan of Richland Center, Wisconsin and Glenda Fredrickson of Grants Pass, Oregon; a son, Michael Kelly of Australia; two brothers, Paul Lindquist and Harlan Lindquist, both of Grants Pass; three grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Kelly in 1988 and a son, Keith Kelly in 2009.
