Catherine Elizabeth Schultz, age 82, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, September 9, 2012 at her home.
A funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 14, 2012 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Father William Holtzinger officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Catherine was born December 2, 1929 in Crofton, Nebraska to Joseph & Agatha Welchert. She was raised in Nebraska and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1947. She then attended St. John’s Nursing School in Huron, South Dakota where she graduated as a registered nurse. From 1952 to 1956 she worked at St. John’s Hospital in South Dakota. On July 1, 1955 in Huron she married Ralph Schultz and in 1956 they moved to Weaverville, California where Catherine worked at Trinity General Hospital until 1963. After moving to Carmichael, California she worked for several hospitals in the Sacramento area. From 1969 until her retirement in 1985 she worked for Kaiser Permanente. In February 1988 she moved from Carmichael, California to Grants Pass, Oregon.
Catherine was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church where she was active in supporting Perpetual Adoration and the prayer line.
Her hobbies included reading, especially mysteries; flower gardening; crossword puzzles; and pinochle.
In addition to her husband, Ralph Schultz of Grants Pass, Oregon; she is survived by three daughters, Susan Schultz of Madera, California, Barbara Loera of Shingle Springs, California and Janet Bernero of Grants Pass, Oregon; a son, Michael Schultz of Sacramento, California; a brother, Richard Welchert of St. Cloud, Minnesota; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Roxanne Hairford in 1994.
