Carolyn Jean Brown, 77, passed away peacefully November 21st, 2022, at Trinity Family Home. Carolyn was born June 4th, 1945, in Washington D.C. to Robert and Joy Murphy. She was the oldest of 10 children. She grew up in California, where she attended University of California, Berkeley, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Shortly after college, she married her soul mate, Hugh Brown, in August of 1967. Carolyn was a dedicated wife and mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with her daughters, Kari and Jodi. She especially loved her role as Grandma.
Carolyn worked as an educator in Grants Pass School District 7. She spent many years teaching both third and fifth grade at Redwood Elementary School. Later in her career, she went back to school and earned her Media Degree. She then served as the Library Media Specialist at all five District 7 Elementary Schools. Carolyn had a vivacious personality and a love for learning that she shared with 100’s of students throughout the years. After dedicating her career to teaching others, she retired in 2003 and became a full time Grandma.
Carolyn spent much of her free time relaxing in nature. She loved the Rogue River, and the extended trips with great friends and family down the Lower Rogue. After retiring, Carolyn and Hugh were able to take many camping trips and especially enjoyed cruising. When she wasn’t busy travelling, she was home spending every minute of her free time cheering on her grandkids at all their sporting events and activities.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Hugh Brown, her daughters Kari (Jeff) Bassett and Jodi (Paul) Robertson, her grandchildren Alex Robertson, Ryan (Shaina) Robertson, Nathaniel Bassett, Parker Robertson, Makenna Bassett, and a large extended family of brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews.
