Carol Mcmorrine Combs

Carol M. Combs, “ Granny” of Cave Junction, OR, passed away December 7, 2019, in Grants Pass, OR.

She is survived by two brothers.

Granny’s surviving family members include daughter Kathi Hammer, Petersburg, AK, three grandchildren Carissa (Jay) Recchio, Maplewood, MN, Jake (Kacey) Hammer, Petersburg, AK and Jens (Jocelyn) Hammer, Banks, OR. Eight great grandchildren, six nieces and 4 nephews. Two sister-in-law’s
Joan Tauchert of Bend, OR and Anna Rae Schmidt of Apple Valley, CA..

She married Howard S. ‘Chips’ Combs in 1950, a 30 year US Navy officer until he retired February 1971, they moved to Cave Junction, OR on Labor Day 1971. They ran the Sears Catalog store for 3 years. Granny Carol worked at Junction Inn, Kerbyville Museum, IV Printing, Lions Club Blood Mobile, volunteered at the local library, her major love was gardening as well as quilting, golfing, crocheting, knitting.

Her husband H.S ‘ Chips’ passed away November 15, 2001 and their only son, Daniel K. Combs passed away December 22, 2017.

We miss Granny’s sense of humor, story telling, crafting endeavors.
