Carol May (Lewis) Courtright

Carol May (Lewis) Courtright, age 65, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at her home.

A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m., Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center on Williams Highway. Private interment will be at Wilderville Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

The family requests donations be made to either, Redwood Dialysis, 201 SW L Street, Grants Pass, Oregon 97526 or to research for Kidney disease.

Carol was born May 1, 1947 in Eureka, California to William & Minnie Lewis the 2nd of six children. At age ten, she moved with her family to Ukiah, California. In her later teens, Carol joined the carnival and was able to travel and see the country for two years. She met and later married the love of her life, Melvin “Pete” Courtright on January 9, 1970. Together they had one child, Loretta Courtright who she loved very much. Carol loved children and babysat often. She also did in-home-care work during her life. Carol moved with her husband and daughter to Grants Pass in 1997.

She was a member of the Eagles Lodge for awhile after moving to Grants Pass.

Carol loved to cook for her family and spend time with them. She really loved to bake cakes and decorate them for family and friends. Carol truly loved her family and always enjoyed being with them!

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Melvin “Pete,” her adoring daughter, Loretta, future son-in-law, Jeeter Peltier; brother and sister-in-law, Doug & Mary Jane Lewis of Eugene, Oregon; a sister and brother-in-law Ginger & Larry McCullum of Cliffton, Colorado; and a sister, Margaret Yates of Ukiah, California. Carol also leaves behind numerous nieces and a nephew who loved their Auntie very very much!

She was preceded in her passing by her mom, Minnie Lewis in 1987; older sister, Betty Cantaroni in 2001; her dad, William Lewis in 2004; and her youngest brother, Greg Lewis in 2007.
