Carol Louise Katzenmeyer

June 21, 1939 — June 3, 2024

Carol Louise Katzenmeyer, age 84, of Grants Pass passed away June 3, 2024, at her home.

Carol was born June 21, 1939 in Tucson, Arizona to Carl and Ethel (Payne) Morris. When she was eight years old, her family moved to the Lookinglass/Melrose area in Oregon. From there they moved to Maple Street in Roseburg, Oregon. Then, when Carol was halfway through her senior year of high school, her father moved his family to San Jose, California.

While living in Roseburg, Carol met a young man by the name of Lawrence “Larry” Fritz Katzenmeyer. Larry followed Carol’s family to San Jose. On June 29, 1957 at the Little Stone Church in Willow Glen, California, Carol and Larry were married. The couple lived in San Jose, California where their three children were born and raised. Carol worked as a veterinarian technician at Camden Pet Hospital. She loved animals! When Larry retired, they moved to Scottsburg, Oregon. They lived on the Umpqua River in Scottsburg until Larry’s death January 14, 2009. On September 6, 2013 Carol moved to Grants Pass to live closer to family.

Carol was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Madrone Ward. She served in many callings, including in the Relief Society, but her favorite calling was leading the children as the Primary President. Carol cherished the children and their families. She loved them all. She never met a child that she didn’t love.

Carol loved all animals…Siamese cats, dogs, Guinea pigs, hedgehogs and cougars were some of her favorites. Some of her hobbies were gardening, knitting and family history. Wearing the color purple, eating chocolate chips with shortbread cookies on the side and the smell of roses and lavender were some of her favorite things. And babies! All babies!

Carol is survived by her children Kirk Alan Katzenmeyer and his wife Darla of Columbia Falls, Montana, and Anne Celeste Murphy and her husband Bryan of Grants Pass; grandchildren Joseph, Ryan, Larry, Sarah, Diana, and Emily; great grandchildren SkyAnne, Jocelyn, Jillian, Annabelle, and Autumn; great-great grandson Dominic (Carol was overjoyed to meet another generation!).

Carol was the eldest of five siblings. Charles Duane and Diane Elizabeth preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister Kathleen Faye Feller of New Braunfels, Texas, brother Robert Gordon Morris of McDermit, Nevada and sister-in-law Patricia Lee Katzenmeyer Webb of Grants Pass, Oregon, and her many nieces and nephews.

The couple’s middle son, Michael Scott Katzenmeyer, died May 7, 1981 at the tender age of 20. This marked the most difficult time of Carol’s life.

A memorial service will be Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Savage Street Building. Arrangements with Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
