Carol Elaine Givens, 71, passed peacefully at her home on May 18th, 2020 due to complications from the multiple myeloma cancer that she had struggled with for several years. She was surrounded by loved ones when she returned to the heavenly realm from which she most certainly came.
Born in San Jose, California on July 21st, 1948 to Robert and Margaret Weld, she is now reunited with her parents and her brother, Bill Weld, as well as her beloved husband, Gail, who also passed from cancer in early 2011. She is survived by their daughter, Rebecca Dawn, nieces Jennifer and Amedee, and nephews Michael and David.
Carol graduated from Chico State University in Biology and continued her love of learning throughout her life. She lived in numerous states from coast to coast due to husband Gail’s BLM career. Carol enjoyed cooking, gardening, singing, sewing, crafts, writing, photography, camping, hiking, traveling, and especially loved being near the ocean. She worked in many occupations including kindergarten teacher, real estate agent, and document specialist, to name a few. Carol was a deeply spiritual person and a well-loved member of her Science of Mind church community. She was a true angel in the lives of those who knew her, and even to those who didn’t, through her extensive philanthropic work.
She was the director and co-founder of The Enlightenment Foundation which offers humanitarian support to indigenous cultures worldwide and provides an outreach program to empower young females to help them reach their highest potential. To that end, she co-produced and published a beautiful book from which all proceeds are donated to these visionary projects. Carol believed in using the gift of one’s life to make the world a better place through dedicated service and the simple acts of kindness, peace, and love. She left an immediate and indelible impression upon everyone she met. In this way, she will live on as an ideal of the kind of people we are all capable of becoming. She was love personified, and she will never be forgotten.
An online memorial service will be arranged within the coming months. If you would like to attend please send an email to woodlandfairie@yahoo.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to her 501(c)(3) organization, The Enlightenment Foundation, would be greatly appreciated. You may go to The Pearls of Wisdom Book website to make a donation through the Angel Whispers page at www.thepearlsofwisdombook.com/angel-whispers-foundation.
