Carl Henry Getz, age 81, of Rogue River, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at his home.
Family services will be held. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Carl was born February 6, 1926 in Hong Kong BCC, (China) and moved with his family to the Philippines. In 1943 Carl and his father were held at the Santa Tomas internment camp in Manila, Philippines while his mother and sister hid in the hills above Manila. On February 4, 1945 Carl and his father were liberated by the United States Tank Corps. At that time, Carl at the age of 18, came to the United States while his father went to find Carl’s mother and sister who came together to the United States to reunite with Carl. On March 25, 1950 in Yuma, Arizona he married Dorothy R. Gutridge. He worked as a machinist with Caterpillar Tractor Company for 23 years. He moved from Los Angeles to Rogue River 30 years ago.
He attended the Catholic Church in Rogue River for many years.
He especially enjoyed building and fabricating things and gardening.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy Getz of Rogue River; he is survived by a daughter, Terri Burger and her husband, Loel of Corona, California; four sons, Alex Getz and his wife, Susie of Rogue River, Dennis Getz of Grants Pass, Mitch Getz of Wolf Creek, Tracy Getz and his wife, Tricia of Moses Lake, Washington; a sister, Helen Abbott of Sausalito, California; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
