**Obituary: Breda Barragan (November 18, 1942 - April 28, 2024)**
Breda Barragan, born on November 18, 1942, in the coastal town of Ballyheigue in County Kerry, Ireland, peacefully departed from this world on April 28, 2024, in Apple Valley, Minnesota, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was a woman passionate of her beliefs, and a "tell it like it is" personality, leaving behind memories and stories cherished by all who were privileged to know her.
At the age of four, Breda embarked on a journey across the Atlantic Ocean with her parents, setting sail for San Francisco, CA, where she would embrace a life filled with adventure, love, and enduring friendships. It was in San Francisco that she forged an unbreakable bond with her lifelong friend Ana Vides, with whom she lovingly referred to Breda as her Irish Salvadoran. The two of them shared countless treasured memories and travels together.
In the bustling streets of San Francisco, Breda met her soulmate, Bob Barragan, with whom she began a journey of 43 years, characterized by laughter, love, and occasional bouts of delightful madness. Together, they navigated the highs and lows of life, creating a tapestry of unforgettable moments.
Breda's professional journey was as diverse as it was fulfilling. She tackled various roles, primarily as a secretary at Pacific Bell phone company, PG&E, and a local psychiatrist's office. With a steadfast spirit and unwavering dedication, she approached each endeavor with grace and diligence, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
In 1995, Breda embarked on a new chapter of her life, retiring early and relocating to Grants Pass, OR, where she immersed herself in a myriad of hobbies and pursuits. From tap dancing to participating in a dulcimer group, Breda's zest for life was boundless. She was an active member of the PEO and found solace in the beauty of nature, often hiking through scenic trails with her beloved dogs and embracing the serenity of the great outdoors.
Breda leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration, survived by her three devoted sons: Chris Barragan of Apple Valley, MN; Anthony Barragan of Maricopa, AZ; and Jerry King of Farmington, MN. She also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren whom she adored.
A memorial mass honoring Breda's life will be held at 10 am on May 11, 2024, at St. Anne Catholic Church, where friends and family will gather to celebrate her remarkable journey. A committal service will follow at 11 am on May 13, 2024, at Eagle Point National Cemetery, where Breda will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Bob.
