Bill Sampley, age 64, of Cave Junction, died Monday, March 5, 2012 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.
A visitation was held Monday, March 12, 2012 at Illinois Valley Funeral Directors. Private interment was held at Laurel Cemetery.
He was born William Andrew Sampley on October 14, 1947 in Signal Mountain, Tennessee. He graduated from Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, California. While living in Southern California he worked as a journeyman class A machinist. He moved to Cave Junction ten years ago.
Bill loved being a hippie. He loved helping the homeless and anyone in the community and loved animals including birds and dogs. He was an artist and enjoyed woodworking, especially making furniture; gardening; tree trimming; and landscaping. Bill loved his dogs, “Mr. T” and “Lil’ Tink.”
Survivors include his significant other, Jacqueline Landers of Cave Junction, Oregon; two daughters, Kim Vanderstratten and Sara Chapman both of Corona, California; two sons, Jason Conroy of Redondo Beach, California and Jeremy Thomas of San Francisco, California; a sister, Linda F. Loo of Odessa, Florida; two brothers, Greg Sampley of Cave Junction, Oregon and Steve Sampley of Holiday, Florida; and ten grandchildren.
