Betty Ruth Patrick

Betty Ruth Patrick, age 88, of Merlin, died July 8, 2017 at The Suites in Grants Pass.

Betty was born October 15, 1928 in Tremonton, Utah to Clarence Edward Clarkson & Anna Georgia Cox. Betty was the youngest of 3 children – 1 older sister Mary Marguerite and 1 older brother George Marquis. Betty married at 16 years old to a Navy man, Roy Allen Decker and together they had two daughters before divorcing after 13 years of marriage. Betty then attended Long Beach City College in California where she took classes to become a grocery checker and bookkeeper. She worked at Safeway in Wilmington, California where she raised her two girls – Sharon and Marsha. Betty married for the 2nd time to a man she met at work, Bennie Patrick from Mississippi. On June 20, 1960 Betty and Ben welcomed a baby girl, Victoria Ann. After 57 years of marriage Ben died of cancer May 26, 2015.

Betty was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Merlin Ward.

She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Lynn Rodriguez of Tijuana, Mexico, Marsha Lee Decker and Victoria Ann Patrick both of Grants Pass, Oregon; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Merlin Ward.

Private interment will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Fremont, California.
