Betty Opal Howe Tippetts

June 2, 1925 — July 1, 2012

Betty Opal Howe Tippetts, 87, left her earthly home July 1, 2012 at Spring Village Assisted Living Facility in Grants Pass, OR. She was born, at home, on June 2, 1925 in Canon City, Colorado to Roy William Howe and Lulu Pearl Jones.
Betty had a life- long love for music and played the piano and organ and had a beautiful contralto voice. She met her husband-to be while she was leading the music at church in Denver, CO. He was stationed there in the Army Air Corp and flirted with her throughout the meeting. Harry and Betty were married in Provo, UT on June 5, 1943 and later sealed for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake City temple. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage. They lived in Colorado, Utah, California and Oregon and traveled to every state and lived in Greece for 2 years.
Betty remained actively involved with service and devotion in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Betty is survived by children Barton (Mary), Gaye Wallen (Darrell), Lyle (Gail), Mark (Pat) and 13 grandchildren who are Lori (Phil), Jamie, Debbie, Steve, Paul, Sally (Jonathan), Scott (Liz), Brenda, Jennifer, Rachel, Julie (Michael), Rebecca (William), and Joseph and 16 great grandchildren who all were the light of her life.
Betty was preceded in death by her daughter Karen, her husband Harry, her Parents Roy and Lulu Howe, her brothers John and Delmer and sisters Ruby, Louie Jane and her twin June.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. A viewing will be held at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Williams highway in Grants Pass, OR. She will be interred with Harry at the Eagle Point, OR National Cemetery on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 9:00AM.
Betty wished that in lieu of flowers that people would donate to the LDS Missionary Fund.
