Bernadine Christiani Bailey

Bernadine Christiani Bailey, age 92, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Redwood Terrace.

A celebration of life will be announced in the summer of 2008. No services are planned at this time. Private mausoleum entombment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Bernadine was born December 26, 1914 in Prineville to Charles & Sarah Christiani. She attended school in Prineville until age 12 when she moved with her family to Grants Pass. In 1932 she graduated from Grants Pass High School. On August 3, 1935 in Grants Pass, she married John Ross Bailey, who preceded her in death in 1978. From 1938 to 1950 she worked for Josephine County Abstract (Title) Company and the Rogue River Title Company. She then worked at the Josephine County Courthouse, both in the Sheriff’s Office and the County Clerk’s office from 1950 until her retirement in 1974.

She and her husband were charter members of the former First Assembly of God Church, now known as Parkway Christian Center. She served as the church secretary/treasurer and taught Sunday school for many years.

She enjoyed living an active life, especially being involved in her church and keeping in touch with family members and being the family historian.

Survivors include a brother, Wilbur Christiani of Grants Pass; 12 nieces & nephews and many great-nieces & great-nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Christiani and Maysel Cox and brothers, Julian Christiani and Gladwyn Christiani.
