Barbara M. Geissel, 91, of Grants Pass died April 29th 2014 at Norris Manor.

She was born March 31st 1923 in Grants Pass, OR to Charles and Alice Smith. She lived on a homestead on the Hugo side of Sexton Mountain until age 3, when she moved to Sunny Valley. She lived in Sunny Valley, riding horses, attending the one room schoolhouse in Sunny Valley, later graduating from Grants Pass High School in 1940.
After graduation, she moved into Grants Pass where she was a bookkeeper for Josephine General Hospital and later Prestel Motor Company. While working at Prestel Motor Company, she met her husband, George A. Geissel, and they married on April 11th 1948. They owned Fruitdale Market until 1958, when they sold it and purchased the Wonder Bur Lounge & Caf, which has been in the family ever since, and is now owned by her son, Charles. Barbara lived in the Grants Pass area for her entire life.
She enjoyed golfing, cooking, sewing, the outdoors and traveling, especially the backroads. She always wanted to see what was around the next corner.

Her survivors include a son, Charles Geissel of Grants Pass, a daughter, Toni O’Malley, also of Grants Pass and 3 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Geissel.
