Barbara Jean Silvis, age 81, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Kinsington Place.
Barbara was born August 23, 1933 in San Francisco, California to Samuel & Kathryn (Jorgensen) Kyles. She graduated from Jefferson High School in San Francisco where she played softball and played in the band. She then studied graphic arts at Chabot College in California. On December 18, 1965 in Honolulu, Hawaii she married Robert Allen Silvis. She worked as a draft person with the telephone company in San Francisco and for the U.S. government while living in Hawaii. In July 2005 she moved from Florissant, Colorado to Grants Pass.
Barbara was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: 2005-2008 Riverside Ward, 2008-2012 Redwood Ward, and 2012-2015 Murphy Creek Ward.
Her hobbies included drawing, stained glass work, and jewelry making.
Survivors include her husband, Robert A. Silvis of Grants Pass, Oregon; two sons, Robert A. Silvis II of Seattle, Washington and Peter Silvis of Grants Pass, Oregon; two sisters, Joanne Hall of Mt Vernon, Washington and Kathleen Schram of Half Moon Bay, California; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be at 9:00 a.m., Friday, May 22, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center in Grants Pass. Interment will follow at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
